The Kenosha History Center and the Harborside/Downtown Business Districts invite you out for a fun-filled evening of great bands at lakeshore establishments. A complimentary bus will provide transportation between venues throughout the evening between 7 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. Bands will start playing at 7 p.m.. and will run until close at most establishments. Tickets can be purchased at the History Center and participating establishments prior to the event date for $5. Wristbands at the door of each establishment the night of the event will be $10.






 
Southport Light Station Museum Grand Opening Cocktail Reception

Join the Kenosha History Center for a special evening reception featuring complimentary wine and beer and hors d'oeuvres at Kenosha's newest museum. Become the first to view the the first floor of the Lighthouse Keeper's residence exhibits. The exhibits showcase the eight years of restoration and renovation to prepare for the new Lighthouse and Maritime Museum. The Southport Lighthouse will also be open for tours to the top. Southport Light Station Museum Grand Opening

Join the Kenosha History Center for the grand opening of Kenosha's newest museum. The first floor of the Lighthouse Keeper's residence will showcase the eight years of restoration and renovation to prepare for the new Lighthouse and Maritime Museum. Lighthouse Tours & Southport Light Station Museum

$10.00 Adults (non-members) for tower; Free admission to Southport Light Station Museum
The historic Southport lighthouse and the new Southport Light Station Museum will be open weekends beginning on May 15, 2010. The tower (admission fee) will be open weekends through Sunday October 31, weather dependent. Call (262)654-5770 to verify if the tower is open. $Free lighthouse climbs for Kenosha County residents; $5 for non-Kenosha County residents; free for all children 8-12 (children must be at least 8 years of age to climb)
Join the Kenosha History Center at the Southport Light Station to help us celebrate National Lighthouse Day. We invite everyone to bring a picnic lunch, lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the grounds of the light station. There will also be 15-20 picnic tables on the grounds. After your picnic lunch, enjoy an ice cream sundae and/or root beer float, available for purchase from our concession stand. Historic kid's games will take place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Also enjoy musical entertainment throughout the day and don't miss the Celebrity pie eating contest to be held at 12:00 noon. History Mystery Tour & Dinner

Join Kenosha Historian Don Jensen for a great evening of fun, food and history. Details of the tour are still being discussed. Occasionally, the tour may include short walks from the bus. Click on the photo for more information.






 
Kenosha History Center Cemetery Walk
Saturday October 2, 2010, 1-4 p.m.
Free
Spend a beautiful fall day walking through Green Ridge Cemetery and learn about historic Kenoshans. The tour features reenactors describing individuals featured on the tour, 1-4 p.m. More information on this year's event will be disclosed at a later date. Tours leave on a first come, first serve basis at the Green Ridge Cemetery entrance. Parking is available on 7th Avenue and 66th Street. Click on the photo for more information.

Join Tom Schleif for a nightime lantern tour of historic Greenridge Cemetery. Tom will lead a group to visit the grave sites of some of Kenosha's most prominent citizens and looking at gravestone symbolism. Sixth Annual Chili Cook-off

Don't miss the 6th Annual Chili cook-off between the 2009 winning entry (Fiesta Catering) , the Kenosha Fire Department, the Somer's Fire Department and some of Kenosha's best restaurants.
