Join the Kenosha History Center for the long awaited grand opening of the new lighthouse and maritime museum, complete with a ribbon cutting and lighthouse keeper reenactors. The Lighthouse Keeper's House has been in various stages of restoration and planning since 2001. View historic harbor maps, an authentic fresnels lens (the light that formerly lit lighthouses), lighthouse keeper's tools and learn about Kenosha's harbor history. The first floor of the building has been restored to a 1907-08 time period, complete with historic paint colors and a period kitchen. Musical entertainment will highlight the day. The restored building is Kenosha's newest museum space, a lighthouse and maritime museum that documents Kenosha's lighthouse keepers, shipping and fishing history. The 1866 lighthouse will also be open for tours to the top.
